After years of research, Planted was founded in July 2019 as a spin-off from ETH Zurich. Our revolutionary plan will make the world a better place. We structure meats from plants that is no way inferior to animal meat, scores with unique taste, and authentic texture, and is miles ahead in terms of sustainability and health!

Planted is more than a delicious product - it's also an attitude. We want to radically change the way meat is perceived and consumed and inspire a shift from eating animal proteins to eating plant proteins.

As Science Intern, your position is placed within the Alternative Structuring group of our Science Team, where you will do research and development in the field of structuring soft materials for plant-based foods.

Your mission:

• you manage and organize science and development projects at the interface of materials science, food science, biotechnology, and processing.
• you actively contribute to scientific projects.
• help to establish new structuring technologies for plant-based foods.
• you run regular and proof of concept experiments for future science projects in the laboratory.
• you optimize scientific practices by continuously questioning the current state.
• you keep up and inform others about the current scientific and patent literature.
• you supervise master's and bachelor's thesis students.
• you bridge science and product development.

You are:

• a self-driven person with a higher education with a focus on soft materials in the fields of materials and food science.
• knowledgeable in the areas of materials processing (polymers, ceramics, proteins).
• enthusiastic about working with plant-based meat and food in general.
• familiar with working in the laboratory and used to getting things done.
• comfortable with working under pressure, realizing unconventional scientific ideas and handling unfamiliar situations and deadlines.
• a team player and responsibility-taker with an entrepreneurial mindset and a high level of independence.
• creative and have a flexible mindset.
• a high performer with keen perception and willingness to go the extra mile.
• allowed to work in Switzerland (valid work permit).
