After years of research, Planted was founded in July 2019 as a spin-off from ETH Zurich. Our revolutionary plan will make the world a better place. We structure meats from plants that is no way inferior to animal meat, scores with unique taste, and authentic texture, and is miles ahead in terms of sustainability and health!

Planted is more than a delicious product - it's also an attitude. We want to radically change the way meat is perceived and consumed and inspire a shift from eating animal proteins to eating plant proteins.

In the Planted Science team we have established new and innovative processes with a strong focus on fungal mycelium. As our mycelium expert you will bring these concepts to the next level.

Your mission:

• manage and organize multiple science projects in the interdisciplinary fields of
  biotechnology, material science, and food science
• develop and establish new & innovative biotechnological processes based on fungal fermentation and mycelium biomass
  
• closely collaborate within the science team with scientists working on (bio)technological processes and raw materials
• design and carry out experiments and provide innovative prototypes at the interface to product development
• optimize scientific practices by continuously questioning the current state
• supervise projects including PhD and master thesis
• maintain active network within the scientific community

You:

• have a Master/PhD in Food Science, Bio(techno)logy, Mycology, Material Sciences or simliar 
• are an experienced researcher in the fields of Biology or Biotechnology
• have a profound knowledge and hands-on experience with mycelium and fungal fermentations is essential
• bring experience with food production / food science is considered an asset
• are comfortable with working under pressure, unconventional scientific ideas and with handling unfamiliar situations and deadlines
• have a proven background in generating and dealing with intellectual property
• are creative and a flexible mindset
• are a team-player and responsibility-taker with a high level of independence
• have excellent communication skills
• are fluent in German and/or English
