Your mission:
- You support the design & establishment of a high performance, state of the art fermentation pilot plant to upscale & manufacture biotech innovations. That includes identifying and specifying equipment to meet product- and process- requirements; identifying and managing equipment vendors as well as sourcing and implementing the equipment.
- You lead cross-functional projects to scale-up the production of fermented plant-based food products by not only setting the strategic and tactical direction in process development and related technologies, but also by the hands-on implementation thereof.
- You facilitate tech transfer to partners and/or contract manufacturers.
- You collaborate with the Science- and Product Development- teams on scientific projects to develop innovative technology-, processing- & manufacturing- solutions in the interdisciplinary fields of biotechnology, material science, and food process engineering.
- You support the setting of and delivery on Planted’s technology development roadmap.
You:
- have a MSc or PhD in the relevant field (e.g. Biotechnology, Microbiology, Food Technology, (Bio)chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, Process Engineering or similar).
- have a profound technical and scientific knowledge of and proven hands-on experience in industrial food fermentations on pilot- or manufacturing- scale, in biotechnology as well as in microbiology (experience with cultivating fungi is highly desired).
- are hands-on experienced in the build-up & validation of pilot- or manufacturing- scale fermentation technology platforms
- bring a profound technical and scientific knowledge of and proven hands-on experience in fermentation process upscaling as well as in technology transfer
- have proven project leading and partner management skills
- are fluent in English (German is a plus)
- have strong negotiation skills and experience in dealing with contracts
- have an entrepreneurial mindset and a high level of independence
- have an analytical mind with a holistic and structured approach
- are a team player, self-starter, and responsibility taker
